What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? James 2:14 (New International Version)

Sound and video have entered into the arena of worship services. Through the tools such as LCD projectors and plasma displays, worship services have become an interactive display of a timeless, heart-changing message.

In an article from Your Church magazine, Tim Eason described some of the changes that technology was making in the "church." My interpretation of the article was that we as a church must creatively reinforce our message by integrating audio, video, and other technologies. The time is here and it is now.

Eason wrote that the language used today to describe our church sanctuaries would baffle a pastor of 50 years ago. He would surely believe that we were speaking of a theater as we discuss screens, cameras, lighting and video, definitely not a church.Deacons Ministry to All Ages

Times have changed. And as technology continues improving—offering new ways to share our message—many churches are keeping up with those changes. Our church must also change. Not in our fundamental belief, but in how we present the message to the masses. Sound equipment has become commonplace with computers, screens, video, and all the other equipment quickly following. Again, not to change the message but to visually and audibly reinforce it to the growing "visual" mass of people.

First Baptist is involved in bringing technology into the service. It has a crew of volunteers who work in the booth during each Sunday worship service and with the other special events occuring throughout the year.

If you would like to volunteer, contact the church office and give them your name and a telephone number.
