Listen to the Word O
God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my
body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water...
My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods.
(Psalm 63:1, 5)

Physical hunger and thirst have symptoms that
are easily identified. So do spiritual
hunger and thirst. When your stomach is
not full, it growls. Likewise, when your
soul is not full, it also growls.
Sometimes
your spiritual dissatisfaction shows up in a grouchy mood - you blow up
over stuff you should blow off. Sometimes it comes out in chronic
complaining, or continual disappointment in your relationships.
Sometimes it rears its head through envy and resentment. Other
times you may experience an outbreak in the area of one of your pet
sins. All of these indicators point to a spiritual emptiness - a
hole that needs to be filled with God.
