Listen to the Word Then
Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, "We should go up and
take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it."

Caleb
was one of twelve spies sent to do some reconnaissance work in the land
God wanted to give His people. All twelve saw the same good,
fertile land that would make an ideal home for the people. All
twelve also saw walled cities and well-armed soldiers who weren't
exactly rolling out the welcome mat. Most of the spies said that
claiming the land would be impossible - that they would be squashed
like bugs if they even tried. Caleb said they should load up the
U-haul trucks and move in immediately. Why was Caleb willing to
take such a risk? Simply put, Caleb knew that God was with them
and He wanted them to have the land. Caleb knew it was better to
be out on a limb with God than to be "safe" on the ground away from
him. Unfortunately the majority won out. God's people didn't go
in to the land, and they spent the next forty years wandering in the
wilderness and wondering, "what if?"
