Listen
to the Word
"Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant
also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me." (John
12:26)

|
One of the main reasons we
find serving to be such a struggle is that servants don't typically grab
a lot of headlines. We want to be honored. We want to be
thought of as "somebody." And let's face it - our world is more
impressed with someone who can throw a 95 mile-per-hour fastball than
with someone who can skillfully wield a mop. A royal scepter in
the hand generally grabs more attention than a toilet brush.
Serving does not appear to be the best path to acclaim and honor.
But
appearances are wrong! Jesus says, "My Father will honor the one
who serves Me." Honor does come to those who serve! Your
neighbors may not be impressed when you live as a servant, but your God
is. Serving gains you respect and recognition from the only source
that really counts.

Live the
Word
Ask God to break your bondage to the opinions of
others. Ask Him to help you stop living for human applause and
start living to hear Him say, "Well done, good and faithful servant."
