Listen
to the Word
"The LORD is my shepherd, I
shall not be in want." (Psalm
23:1)
|
|
The Bible frequently compares
us to sheep, and that's not exactly a compliment. Sheep aren't
known for being the brightest animals around. They have a hard
time finding their own food, and they tend to get themselves lost rather
frequently. Sheep also aren't the toughest creatures you will
find (There aren't many high schools who choose a sheep as their mascot -
"The Fighting Sheep" just wouldn't exactly strike fear into the hearts
of their opponents). Sheep are basically defenseless against
predators. A sheep left on its own would not stand a chance.
The
good news is that we are not sheep who have been left on our own.
We have a shepherd. The Lord is our shepherd. We don't know
where to go, but He guides us. We are helpless and vulnerable,
but He protects us. We can't take care of ourselves, but He
provides for us.

Live the
Word
Make a list of five things God has supplied for you -
things you would not have been able to acquire through your own
ability. Thank God for providing for you as your shepherd. | |
