First Serve Projects

First Baptist Church of Lee's Summit engages in a variety of service projects throughout the year under the heading of First Serve.  These projects provide wonderful opportunities to engage folks in our community as well as providing much-needed services to our neighbors.

February - Lee's Summit Social Services Pancake Breakfast

The annual pancake breakfast is a major fundraiser for LSSS, an organization our church     helps sponsor, which provides food, clothing, and financial assistance to Lee's Summit     residents.

June (first weekend each year) - Downtown Days

The Downtown Days event draws several thousand visitors to Lee's Summit each June.      Our church provides free parking and water in our parking lot as well as manning a booth     downtown that features games and activities for children.

Summer - Summit Lunch Program
In partnership with Lee's Summit United Methodist Church, FBCLS provides daily     weekday lunches throughout the summer to children who receive free lunches during the     school year.

September (last weekend of the month) - Octoberfest
This fall event also brings thousands of visitors to downtown Lee's Summit.  As with     Downtown Days, the church provides free water and parking in our parking lot as well as     manning a booth on "Kids Street" with games and activities for children.

October 31st - Trunk or Treat
Church members distribute candy from the trunks of their cars and the Family Life     Center features an inflatable bounce house and other carnival-type activities for children     and their parents.

December 25 - Annual Christmas Day Dinner
FBCLS provides a free Christmas Day dinner to those who might otherwise have no one     to share a meal with on Christmas Day.  Dinners are also delivered to the homebound and     to firemen and policemen working that day.
