Joy ClubFor those 55 and older, the Joy Club meets at 11:00 AM on the 1st Monday of every month. Bus transportation is provided for those who are unable to drive. The meeting consists of a time of singing, a devotional thought, and reports on activities of interest for senior adults. A catered lunch follows which is offered at a reasonable cost. After lunch, a featured program provides entertainment, inspiration, and/or education. Past programs have been remarkably rich in their variety - soloists and family music groups, theatrical performances, video documentaries, clowns, comedians, animals, and a wide-range of speakers who have addressed timely issues or shared from their experiences.Once a month, the Joy Club embarks on an adventure. Trips in the past have included a tour of Jamesport, the Strawberry Hill Museum, "Treasure of the Czars" exhibit, the Harley Davidson plant, the Plaza Lights, the traveling Smithsonian Museum, and the community dinner theater in Blackwater. Usually included in the trip is lunch out at a special spot. There are "Mystery Trips" where you never know where you will end up! Sometimes it might be a breakfast trip to Cracker Barrel or lunch at a favorite eatery. Joyful TidingsJoyful Tiding is our Senior Adult Newsletter. This monthly newsletter is distributed in our Bible Fellowship classes and is loaded with information about upcoming trips, the plan for the Joy Club Meeting, birthday and anniversary dates of our members, inspirational thoughts, and other tidbits for your mind!Senior Assist MinistryOne of the ongoing ministries of FBCLS is our Senior Assist Ministry (SAM). SAM volunteers, like the original Good Samaritan, respond to the needs of others. This ministry focuses primarily on the needs of our senior adults - including light household repair and maintenance, yard work, and supplying transportation for doctors' visits or shopping.
