Baptist Support of the Missionary Movement

First Serve Our initial First Serve monthly ministry project is slated for June 4-6 as we participate in Lee's Summit's Downtown Days.  We need a good group of volunteers to take part in the event at two different locations: a booth downtown and the church parking lot.

The booth location will pass out popcorn and other treats as well as information about our church.  The group at the church parking lot will give away bottles of water.

Last year, cone 80,000 - 100,000 people attended the Downtown Days festival.  It's a great opportunity to launch First Serve and help people learn about First Baptist Church.

First Place 4 Health!

Would you like to be healthier in 2010?  Check out First Place 4 Health!  First Place 4 Health is a 12-week Christ-centered weight loss and healthy living program that focuses on the four essentials of well-being:  the mind, emotions, body and spirit.  See how putting God first can lead to successful weight-loss.  Learn how God calls Christians to be physically fit.  Understand the positive effect good nutrition and exercise have on our emotions and spirit.  Meetings will begin on Wednesday, February 10 from 6:15 pm – 7:30 pm in the Annex and will continue each week through Wednesday, April 28.  Contact Lisa Frogge (525-7702) by Sunday, January 24 to register and for cost information.

Our support group for those dealing with depression and anxiety will be starting a new study of the book "In This Corner" on Sunday afternoon, February 7th.  This workbook will offer personal insights and practical exercises to engage in the healing and recovery process.  Support group members will have opportunities to reflect on where they are now, and where they want to be, while sharing in a casual, safe and confidential setting. The book stresses that our primary source of strength to overcome any obstacle is our Lord, Jesus Christ.  Contact Caroline Cooper for details (589-0356).
